Shodo Harada Roshi will be visiting Berkeley Zen Center on Saturday, Sept. 6th at 2:00 PM. He is making a rare trip to the Bay Area in order to perform a memorial service for Hozan Roshi, who studied with him extensively.

Harada Roshi is the abbot of Sogenji, a Rinzai monastery in Japan, and he oversees temples in Seattle, Germany, San Diego, and India. Many of his students have sitting groups across Europe as well. Several of our sangha members and friends from SFZC have trained with Harada Roshi.

The memorial service will be held in the zendo and is open to all BZC members and friends. Some dharma teaching or Q&A may follow, depending on the timing of the ceremony.

For folks who are interested, Harada Roshi will also be speaking at Commonweal on Friday.
